PARIS — (Hollywood Backstage) -- RUSSIA SAYS NO TO PIRATES -- When it comes to Pirates stealing a 52 million dollar load, Russia knows how to handle things.
Upon being attacked by Somali pirates, the all-Russian crew signaled their own Russian destroyer, the Marshal Shaposhnikov, to the rescue and barricaded themselves into the radar room of their own ship.
That's like baby bear telling momma bear that someone ate my porridge.
It wasn't long before papa bear showed up and opened a can of whoopass on the pirates, who engaged them in a robust battle.
The destroyer, knowing the merchant crew was locked down and safe, turned its guns onto the superstructure of the tanker as the pirates put up resistance.
Soon, the outgunned pirates surrendered. Arrg!
Piracy has become a way of life in Somalia. The country has descended into complete anarchy. (The preferred government of Pirates). They have been making a sport of picking off hapless ships in the Gulf of Aden and up to 1,200 miles offshore in the Indian Ocean and collecting ransoms. This is what pirates do in the year 2010.
A lesson for pirates everywhere: Don't mess with Russia (or the U.S. for that matter).
