Helen Thomas Retires (The Video)

Washington (Hollywood Backstage) -- White House reporter, Helen Thomas, has issued a statement of apology for her recent comments "I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon."

Helen Thomas, 89, has covered every president since John F. Kennedy. She was an esteemed member of the White House Press Corps.

She was asked by a camera crew if she had any comments about Israel. Thomas shocked the reporter by saying, "Tell em to get the hell out of Palestine."

Thomas laughed as the Jewish Reporter for rabbi.com said, "oo, do you have any better comments?" Thomas laughed, "Ha ha ha ha."

In the background, a woman says, "Helen is smart."

Helen Thomas then stated, "Remember, these people are occupied and it's their land. It's not German, it's not Poland."

Clearly annoyed Jewish Reporter interrupts, "So where should they go?"

Jewish Reporter, "So where do you want them to go? What should they do?"

Thomas, "Go home. "

Jewish Reporter: "Where's their home?"

"Poland," Thomas answers.

Jewish Reporter, "So the Jews that..."

Thomas said, "Germany."

Jewish Reporter, "So the Jews should go back to Poland and Germany."

"and America and everywhere else."
