The New Orleans Saints beat the Minnesota Vikings to head to Super Bowl XLIV.
Garrett Hartley kicked a 40 yard field goal in sudden death OT to win the game for the New Orleans Saints.
The game was full of fumbles and turnovers. The Vikings could have won at the end of regulation. Unfortunately for them, Brett Favre, decided to pass the ball with his team within field goal range and seconds left on the clock. Favre rolled out to his right and appeared to have running room for good field position. Instead, the third down pass against the grain was intercepted and the Saints took over at midfield. The Saints could not do anything and the regulation ended with the score tied at 28.
The Saints won the coin toss and elected to receive. After the return, the Saints had the ball at their own 40 yard line. One interference call later, they were in field goal range.
Sean Payton, head coach of New Orleans said: "There is no one else I would rather hand this to than Drew Brees."
