2010 Academy Award Nominations

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Backstage) - Will the 3D box office megahit "Avatar" impress The Academy?

Former "King of the World" and Director James Cameron has already done some impressive movie magic by convincing the Academy's selection comittee that Avatar is not an animated film or was that the other way around? Avatar is nominated for nine Academy Awards, including "Best Picture."

Some in the film industry have begun speculating as to whether "Avatar" is in fact the underdog -- and that was before "Avatar" lost to "The Hurt Locker" at the producers and directors guild awards in recent weeks. "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker" share the lead with nine nominations apiece.

Here is a full list of the Academy Award nominees. A click on each movie below will take you to their official web site (or nearest we could find).
